Greg Bertelsen

Gregory John Bertelsen passed away on February 2, 2018 at the age of 62. He was born on July 9, 1955 at Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit; son of Jack and Theresa (nee LeBeau) Bertelsen. Greg attended St. Joan of Arc for grade school and graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 1973. On December 31, 1975 Greg eloped with his high school sweetheart Jane. The couple enjoyed 42 years of marriage together. Greg was the General Manager for Fraser Optical for 35 years. Greg was very supportive of his children as they grew up. He never missed a game and served in various capacities from coaching to volunteering. He was a hard working man who had a meticulous attention to detail, from keeping his yard in immaculate condition to knowing the most obscure facts. He was a true gentleman that will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. He leaves behind his loving wife Jane. He was proud of his son Eric (Orchid) and daughter Kristen (Matthew) Campbell. He adored his grandchildren Quinn, Henry, and twins Cora and Lilly. Greg will be missed by many. Though I had not seen him in years, never forgot his great laugh, sense of humor and always ready to give a hand. My thoughts and prayers are with Jane and the kids.

I knew Greg in High School, but got to know him even better when his 2 children were at GPN at the same time as mine.   He was extremely active in supporting the Athletic Booster Club at GPN and I also remember his being an excellent Manager for Fraser Optical.   He helped out a great deal on planning our 40th Reunion and was certainly one of the most well-liked persons in our class.    Greg left a legacy for us all to remember.

When l looked at Gregs picture today I had a flashback to the fun times we had .

I'm sure everyone has a good story about associating with Jane and Greg.

What a wonderful life to be married to your childhood sweetheart .

Sincerely,

Sarah Wynne (  Furtaw )

I knew  Greg in high school through playing football.  He was a great competitor and even a better person.  I had a few battles in the trenches with him and he made me a better player (such as it was for me)  My thoughts and paryers go out to his family.  RIP Greg.

I am saddened by the news of Greg's passing.  I haven't seen Greg since our "GPN" days, but was kept informed  of all that was happening by his cousin, Sue McQueen, a principal at an elementary school I had the pleasure of working with.  I have fond memories of Greg and Jane hanging out at Jane's locker.  My locker was next to Jane's.  Greg will be missed by many and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family.
